Terms of Service

Last updated · July 2026

These terms explain the rules for using CampusCart and reflect how the platform actually works — a chat-based campus marketplace where students negotiate and meet up, and where no payments are ever processed by us.

1 User Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate account information and keep your login credentials secure.
  • Use CampusCart only for lawful buying and selling within your campus community.
  • One account may both buy and sell — you are responsible for all activity that happens on your account.
  • Treat other students respectfully and communicate in good faith.

2 Marketplace Rules

  • Listings must be accurate and represent items you genuinely intend to sell.
  • Each listing includes between 1 and 7 images and a fair, honest description.
  • Listings may be saved as drafts, expire automatically over time, and use soft deletion when removed.
  • Communication happens only through built-in chat — keep the conversation on-platform.

3 Prohibited Listings

To keep the community safe, you may not list:

  • Illegal items, weapons, drugs, alcohol or controlled substances.
  • Counterfeit goods, stolen property, or anything you do not own or have the right to sell.
  • Hazardous materials, live animals, or items that violate university policy.
  • Misleading, fraudulent or off-topic listings unrelated to a genuine campus sale.

4 Buyer & Seller Responsibilities

  • Sellers — describe items honestly, set fair prices and respond to buyers promptly.
  • Buyers — ask questions before committing and honour the agreements you make.
  • Both — complete the exchange in good faith. A listing is only marked Sold after both participants confirm the transaction is complete.

5 Negotiation Policy

  • Prices are negotiated through offers and counter-offers inside the platform.
  • Offer history is permanent and never deleted, giving both parties a transparent record.
  • An accepted offer is a good-faith commitment to move forward to a meet-up.

6 Meet-up Safety

  • Meet-ups can be arranged only after an offer has been accepted.
  • Meet in public, well-lit campus locations, and bring a friend when you can.
  • Inspect items in person before completing the exchange.
  • Do not share sensitive personal information before an offer is accepted.

7 No Payment Processing Disclaimer

  • CampusCart does not process, hold or facilitate payments of any kind.
  • All payment is arranged and completed directly between students.
  • We are not a party to any transaction and are not responsible for money exchanged between users.

8 Limitation of Liability

CampusCart is provided on an "as is" basis. We connect students but do not guarantee the quality of items, the conduct of users, or the outcome of any deal.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, CampusCart is not liable for any loss or damage arising from listings, communications, meet-ups or transactions between users.

9 Account Suspension

  • We may suspend or ban accounts that violate these terms, post prohibited listings, harass others or otherwise misuse the platform.
  • Depending on standing, an account may be Active, Inactive, Suspended or Banned.
  • Where possible we will notify you, but we may act immediately to protect the community.
